Foundation Certificate in Digital Marketing

As a student on the Foundation Certificate in Marketing (revised syllabus), you will develop a good understanding of the wider role of marketing and how your practical skills can be applied to future career progression.

Course Outline

This aim of this course is to equip you with the skills, knowledge and understanding to be able to perform in a support-level marketing role, in a digital context and to carry out an essential and successful professional marketing role within the workplace.

Course Structure

The Foundation Certificate in Professional Digital Marketing comprises of two modules – Marketing Principles and Digital Fundamentals:

Module Content

Marketing Principles (mandatory)

This module provides an understanding of the key marketing concepts and how marketing fits within the organisation. There are three units: Discovering Marketing, The Marketing Environment and The Marketing Mix. For anyone new to marketing, it provides the perfect introduction.

Digital Fundamentals (elective)

This module provides an understanding of the key concepts associated with digital marketing. It covers three units: Fundamentals of digital marketing, Digital Marketing Tools and Developing Digital Marketing Communication Campaigns. This module is ideal for anyone who wants to start learning about Digital Marketing.

Who is this course for?

The Foundation Certificate in Marketing is ideally suited for:

  • those in a job that already involves marketing and digital marketing or
  • those who wish to find out about marketing and digital marketing with the intention of starting a digital marketing career.

 Entry Requirements

It is not necessary to have any previous experience or knowledge of marketing or digital marketing*.

If English is not your first language, you will also need to provide evidence of achieving one of the following English language qualifications within the last two years:

  • IELTS Academic Module with an overall score of 6.5 (each component pass mark must be 6.0 or above).
  • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English grade B or above.

CIM will consider other equivalent alternatives.

 Assessment

A combination of assessment methods are used for the Foundation Certificate of Professional Digital Marketing.

Assessment methods used within the qualification are employer-driven, practitioner-based, relevant and appropriate to business needs.They are designed to be meaningful, to bring learning to life and to reflect the demands of modern industry.

  • Marketing Principles – external assessment: an online examination comprising multiple choice questions
  • Digital Fundamentals – external assessment: an assignment based on a theme and an organisation of choice.

There are three assessment sessions per yeartaking place in December, March/April, and June/July.

How long will it take to complete the course?

Assuming you take one module after the other, sequentially, you can complete the Certificate in Professional Marketing within six months!

The Total Qualification Time (TQT) per module is 120 hours. This includes guided learning hours, practical and work-based learning, assessment preparation time, assessment time and supported self-study time.

How much does it cost?

There are two sets of fees associated with the completion of a CIM qualification:

  • Tuition Fees (payable to NW School of Marketing) and
  • CIM Fees (payable directly to CIM)

Tuition fees include face-to-face classroom sessions, plus access to a range of support mechanisms offered by the school, including webinars, online resources, revision sessions and one-to-one sessions with tutors.

Tuition fees include: face-to-face tuition; access a range of online resources; access to 1-2-1 tutorial support; access to webinars, online learning materials and revision sessions.

Chartered Institute of Marketing Fees

In addition to your NW School of Marketing tuition fees, you will be required to pay CIM registration and assessment fees (payable direct to CIM):
